A snap community rally is being held on Parliament House Lawns at 11:30 on Tuesday morning, where Max Chandler-Mather, Federal MP for Griffith will be speaking in the fight for real action on the housing crisis.

In the middle of one of the worst housing crises in Australian history, Labor’s housing plan only makes the crisis get worse.

Labor needs the support of the Greens, Lidia Thorpe and David Pocock in the Senate to pass their housing plan, which gambles $10 billion on the stock market rather than invest directly in housing.

The good news is that the Greens have made clear to Labor we can’t support a plan that will make the crisis worse. The Greens are pushing for $5 billion a year invested directly in public and affordable housing, a national freeze on rent increases and $1 billion for First Nations housing.

Now is the time to make Labor realise they must come to the table and agree to invest directly in public and affordable housing, and take real action for renters. But we can’t do it alone – so come join this fight, and please come along and share this with anyone you know who might be in Canberra next week.
