Justice for Kumanjayi White ❤️🖤💛
Thousands have rallied across the country for 24-year-old Kumanjayi White, a young disabled man who was killed by police in Alice Springs on May 27th.
There have been 597 Blak deaths in custody since the 1991 Royal Commission was handed down – 11 in 2025 alone. Yet, there is still no commitment from any government to fully implement the recommendations, and there has been no justice.
The Greens support the family of Kumanjayi White in their call for an independent investigation into his death and an independent commission into structural racism.
We condemn Northern Territory Police’s refusal to hand over their investigation into his death. Police should not be investigating police.
We must take action on the systemically racist and colonialist structures that reinforce the over-incarceration of First Nations people and stand in solidarity with First Nations communities to demand justice for those 597 lives lost, and the countless lives continuously impacted by the justice system.
