Up To $12.6 Million For New Regional Community Housing

$1.6M Boost for Argyle Irishtown Volunteer HQ

Argyle Irishtown Bush Fire Brigade volunteers will soon be boosted by a modern, fit-for-purpose headquarters to help them keep their community safe.

The Cook Government is delivering on a $1.6 million election commitment to the development of an upgraded facility to replace the premises on Knights Road.

The new headquarters will be built on South Western Highway in Argyle, allowing easier access to main traffic routes, generating faster response times.

It is expected the premises will be complete and operational by mid-2027.

Argyle Irishtown Bush Fire Brigade volunteers have been given the opportunity to provide input into the facility to ensure it supports the dedicated crews who give up their time to answer calls for help.

There are 38 volunteers within the Argyle Irishtown brigade, which has attended more than 30 incidents over the past two years.

The brigade has also worked closely with the community to increase fire mitigation and preparedness as part of their efforts to keep their families and neighbours safe.

As stated by Premier Roger Cook:

"My government is investing in the most modern resources and equipment for our highly valued fire and emergency services volunteers.

"The new headquarters for the Argyle Irishtown Bush Fire Brigade fulfils an election commitment to bolster community safety.

"The brigade's volunteers put their lives on the line to help protect the community they live in, so it's imperative they have first-class facilities."

As stated by Emergency Services Minister Paul Papalia:

"Volunteers play a critical role in their communities and are often the first responders at the scene of a local incident.

"The new $1.6 million headquarters recognises the hard work of the Argyle Irishtown crews and will support the growth of the brigade long into the future.

"I encourage our dedicated volunteers to get involved and provide input into the facility so it is fit for purpose."

As stated by Collie MLA Jodie Hanns:

"This project delivers on our election commitment to the Donnybrook community and reinforces that safety and support for our volunteers are at the heart of what we do.

"The Argyle Irishtown Bushfire Brigade volunteers work tirelessly to protect our community, and it's fantastic to see this longawaited new facility finally becoming a reality."
