353 Schools To Reopen Tuesday

Minister for Education and the Arts The Honourable John-Paul Langbroek

353 Schools To Reopen Tuesday

353 state schools are planned to reopen on Tuesday 11 March, more than half of the 661 state schools that were closed as a result of severe weather form ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

Parents can check if their local school will be closed tomorrow at closures.qld.edu.au.

An estimated 27,500 students attended almost 200 state schools today, after they were reopened.

Crews have been working around the clock to assess damage at schools, so they can be safely reopened for students and teachers.

Schools will also communicate directly with their local communities about reopenings.

The Crisafulli Government is working to reopen schools across the Local Government Areas affected by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, including Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Redlands, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast, Scenic Rim, Darling Downs and Lockyer Valley.

The Crisafulli Government is committed to reopening schools as a priority, allowing students to resume classes and providing families with certainty.

Schools reopening is also critical to enabling health workers, emergency services workers and retail workers to resume work, which is critical as South East Queensland turns to recovery.
