Labor’s budget makes their priorities crystal clear: Crumbs for people doing it tough with housing insecurity – effectively allowing the housing crisis to get worse – while hundreds of billions of dollars are happily spent on tax cuts for the rich. Over the past few weeks, these legends have been taking to the streets to have hundreds of powerful conversations with the community about the need for our Government to invest directly into building public and genuinely affordable housing, and coordinate a national freeze on rent increases. We know that our power in Parliament is only as strong as our power in the community.
