History has been made. We finally have a National Anti-Corruption Commission! 💪
I congratulate the Government, the crossbench, and the thousands of people across the country who’ve fought long and hard for an accountability & transparency in our politics.
It was an uphill battle, but we managed to strengthen the bill with two Greens amendments that will guard against any potential overreach by the NACC and ensure procedural fairness for witnesses.
We now need the NACC to open its doors for business as soon as possible, because after almost a decade of Coalition pork-barrelling and abuse of office, there is a huge amount of work for it to do.
