Yet another death in custody today – the second in Victoria this month. This is a national crisis.
Our sympathies go out to Mr Austin’s family, friends, and those who loved him. They deserve answers.
This is something no community should ever have to experience.
31 years since the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody, Liberal & Labor governments have failed to act.
Since then, around 500 people have died.
All 339 recommendations must be fully implemented – or people will continue to be killed.
