Millions of workers across the country have been fighting for a better deal for decades.
In 2012, I introduced the first bill into the parliament to give people an enforceable right to have better work life balance and to have flexible working arrangements.
In 2015, Larissa Waters introduced the first deal that would ban pay secrecy clauses – transparency being a key closing the gender pay gap.
That’s why the Greens are pleased to see the measures we and workers across the country have fought for in the Government’s Industrial Relations Bill.
We remain concerned about loopholes in the legislation that could allow workers to remain on repeated short term contracts – a problem rife in aged care and university sector, particularly.
We’ll continue the good faith discussions with Government to close the loopholes before it comes to a vote in the Senate.
You can always rely on the us to fight tooth & nail for the rights of workers across the country.
