Affordable Housing Boost For Older Women At Mango Hill

  • Shovels in ground on housing complex for older women at risk of homelessness.
  • Partnership between the Crisafulli Government and Y-Care to deliver 47 affordable homes at Mango Hill.
  • More than 670 social and affordable homes in construction or under contract across the Moreton Bay region.

The Crisafulli Government is partnering with community housing provider Y-Care to deliver a major affordable housing project that is set to deliver a place to call home for more older women in the Moreton Bay region.

Construction is underway on the new complex, which will mainly cater for women aged over 55 from the social housing register.

Once complete, the Mango Hill development will feature 47 units with dedicated community spaces and onsite support services available for tenants.

The project is part of the Crisafulli Government’s plan to deliver one million homes, including 53,500 social and community homes, over the next two decades to ease Labor’s Housing Crisis.

City of Moreton Bay is also waiving infrastructure charges on the project, which is due to be completed in late 2026.

All 47 units will be built to gold standard under the Social Housing Design Guidelines to meet accessibility needs of seniors and Queenslanders with disabilities.

The sod turn milestone comes after the 2025-26 Budget delivered a record $5.6 billion to be invested in new social and community housing over the next four years.

For the first time, the Budget also locks in baseline funding of $500 million per year from 2029–30, creating a long-term pipeline of social and community homes for Queenslanders most in need.

There are currently more than 670 social and affordable homes in construction or under contract to be delivered across the Moreton Bay region.

Minister for Housing and Public Works Sam O’Connor said the Crisafulli Government was committed to delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders.

“We’re ramping up social and affordable housing construction to ease the housing crisis in the Moreton Bay region,” Minister O’Connor said.

“This complex underway at Mango Hill is a great example of how we are working with community housing providers to deliver more homes in the right locations.

“This will mean safe, secure and affordable homes with on-site support for older women, who are one of our most vulnerable groups when it comes to homelessness.
