We're kicking off a new series this year, spotlighting one of Wentworth's local community organisations every month! To start things off, I want to highlight all the incredible work done by St Vincent de Paul Society - or Vinnies, as many of us say.
I have been so lucky to work with our local Vinnies members over the past few years and what has been clear is their impact is so far reaching, and deeply felt. They offer support in a variety of ways - whether it's providing housing, visa assistance, food, mental and physical health support. They're there for our community at the most difficult times, acting as a safety net for all Australians.
The numbers are staggering - Vinnies NSW helped over 104,000 people in the 2024/25 financial year - and thousands are here in Wentworth. When our office met with some members recently, we heard of how demand has increased rapidly in the last few years as more people in the lower-middle income brackets require help.
Vinnies would not be possible without support from the community, so if you would like to get involved please consider volunteering or making a donation. The details on how to donate to the two local appeals are in the comments below.
