Labor’s plan for disaster readiness | #LIVE from Mackay
Australia is no stranger to natural disasters. Bushfires, floods and cyclones are inevitable – we need to protect communities. A Labor Government will invest up to $200m a year in disaster prevention.
Three years ago, the Morrison Government committed to an emergency response fund. But they have not spent a cent on disaster recovery and have not completed a single disaster prevention project. Scott Morrison is all announcement and no delivery. It will take a Labor Government to deliver.
Labor’s first project to receive this funding will be the levee in Mackay on the Pioneer River. Building this will make the community more resilient to flooding. Shane Hamilton, Labor for Dawson will deliver a better future for Mackay.
