NSW flood victims need help. And they need it now.
Press conference live from Murwillumbah with Justine Elliot, Murray Watt, Janelle Saffin, and homeowners Brett and Leanne.
Brett and Leanne’s entire street in South Murwillumbah was underwater last week. People drove tinnies along the submerged road, going house to house rescuing people.
Now rubbish lines the street, with most of the houses suffering irreparable damage. The Morrison Government didn’t deem this street – or anyone in the Tweed or Ballina or Byron – worthy of additional flood disaster payments.
I was also in Lismore this morning talking with locals and business owners who have lost everything.
Businesses and homes have been gutted, but the community has rallied. And while their resilience is incredible, they also need their government to step up and help too.
