Australia-China CEO Roundtable Set for Beijing
The Business Council of Australia will host the eighth Australia-China CEO Roundtable in Beijing on July 15, in conjunction with China Development Bank, which will focus on unlocking increased economic opportunity for both nations.
This is the first time the Roundtable has been held in Beijing since 2016 and follows on from last year’s successful dialogue in Perth, which was attended by government leaders and a broad cross section of businesses from both countries.
The 2025 Roundtable will bring together Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Premier Li Qiang, alongside senior business leaders from Australia and China, to discuss opportunities to boost two-way economic growth.
BCA Chief Executive Bran Black said strengthening the trading relationship, which already represents a quarter of Australia’s trade, is critical to growing Australia’s economy and creating jobs.
“In 2024 alone, our two-way trade with China was worth nearly $312 billion, or about 25 per cent of all Australia’s trade – it’s a partnership that matters deeply to our nation’s success,” Mr Black said.
“With one in four Australian jobs trade dependent, our businesses are part of the solution in identifying further opportunities with both new and existing partners.
“The Australia-China CEO Roundtable is a crucial forum for building an even stronger relationship with our largest economic partner, particularly in the resources, energy and services sectors.
“Ongoing people-to-people and business-to-business links are fundamental to enhancing Australia’s trading outlook, and I look forward to building on these already strong relationships with our friends and partners in Beijing,” Mr Black said.
A delegation of BCA senior members, including CEOs and senior representatives, will travel to Beijing as part of the Roundtable.
