Adam Bandt introduces bill to protect communities from excessive aircraft noise
This bill will bring Melbourne into line with cities like Paris by stopping aircraft flying below 2,000m over residential areas within 5km of the CBD. It will also establish an independent Aircraft Noise Ombudsman and Community Aviation Advocate, to better support communities during consultation.
For the first time, federal agencies will have the power to regulate aircraft to protect the liveability of our communities.
This is a huge step forward for our campaign.
To keep our cities livable, residents must have a voice. This bill will enshrine in law requirements for community consultation about flight paths.
