This is urgent.
The National Cabinet is meeting again tonight and housing is on the agenda.In the coming months millions of people who have lost their jobs or will be working reduced hours are going to be at risk of falling behind on their rent or mortgage and losing their homes. We must not let that happen.
Today, Senator Mehreen Faruqi and Adam Bandt MP have written to the PM and to State and Territory leaders to call on them to stop evictions.
The Greens are fighting for:
✅ No evictions for renters or foreclosures for mortgage holders during the COVID-19 pandemic
✅ A nationwide rent freeze with no increase in rent for the duration of the health crisis
✅ Rent & mortgage holidays for those who need them
✅ Urgently fund crisis housing
✅ An increase to Centrelink rent assistance payments and expansion of access to payments
