Larissa Waters pays tribute to Felicity Wishart
Last night I paid tribute to the inspiring, passionate, tenacious Flic Wishart who passed away tragically on the 20th of July. Flic was instrumental in every key environmental reform in Queensland in the past 15 years, from banning broadscale land clearing to protecting the Great Barrier Reef.
The campaign to protect the Reef from climate change, industrialisation and pollution goes on, but Flic’s legacy will never be forgotten. In the words of her friends and colleagues at the Australian Marine Conservation Society who like all of us will miss her dearly – “All Australians, whether they realise it or not, owe a debt of gratitude for her work. We are all beneficiaries of her life and work…Her legacy will endure. Her fight is our fight.”
