Richard Di Natale hosts pill testing trial in Parliament House
It’s a terrible tragedy that, right now, young Australians are passing away after taking dangerous pills every single year.
These deaths are entirely avoidable, which is why the Greens have been running a campaign to introduce pill testing at sites all around the country, to reduce harm and save lives.
Since our campaign began, and following 6 devastating deaths at NSW music festivals over summer, the overwhelming majority of Australians now support pill testing1. So too do peak bodies for doctors, pharmacists and nurses, and a handful of independent MPs.
Regrettably, the only ones left holding back progress are politicians in the Labor and Liberal parties. That’s why this week, we took our campaign to test pills and save lives to Canberra for the first demonstration inside an Australian parliament (and quite possibly, the first test undertaken in a federal parliament anywhere!).
