Senator Larissa Waters – Sexual Violence Awareness Month 2020 (AUSLAN interpretation)
TW: rape, assault, sexual violence
October is Sexual Violence Awareness Month.
I’ve put together a video busting some of the myths around sexual violence. The key thing to remember: sexual assault or violence is NEVER the fault of the victim-survivor. Wearing a short skirt doesn’t equal consent. Being friendly or flirty does not equal consent. Anything less than an active ‘yes’ does not equal consent.
I’ve included some resources at the end of this video for you to use, or pass on to someone if you are concerned they may be experiencing sexual violence.
