Senator Lidia Thorpe: First speech to Parliament [Livestream]
Gunnai Gunditjmara and Djab Wurrung woman Lidia Thorpe was the first Aboriginal woman elected to Victorian Parliament, and she is the first Aboriginal woman to become a Senator for Victoria.
Lidia has long fought for the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through her work as a politician and activist.
She has now taken her rightful place in the Australian Parliament to continue her work and legacy as a grassroots campaigner.
This is Lidia’s first speech to Australian Parliament – tackling Sovereignty, Land Rights, and the rights of the First Nations people of this country.
