Senator Rhiannon speak about the Baird government’s push to amalgamate local councils
Last night in the Senate I spoke about the Baird governments push to amalgamate local councils. If the forced amalgamations do eventuate, NSW will become even more of a developers paradise.
An increase in the size of councils would result in the communities in these local government areas having a reduced voice due to the reduced representation that comes with amalgamated councils.
As Australian Greens spokesperson for local government I am committed to ensuring local governments continue to represent the community and can deliver quality services and needed infrastructure.
