Senator Simms stands up for students against Liberal/Labor cuts
Until now, the $1025 Student Start-Up Scholarship went to all eligible students twice a year. It was a modest amount of money that provided relief at critical times of year for uni students, allowing them to cover bills for textbooks, laptops, internet access and other necessities.
Taking away scholarships and turning them into loans means an extra $6000 of debt for the average Bachelor student upon graduation.
