Labor's new member for Brisbane, Madonna Jarrett, started her career in health ...

Australian Labor Party

Labor’s new member for Brisbane, Madonna Jarrett, started her career in health and for the past 25 years she has worked in the private sector focusing on policies for women’s economic development and youth progress, in collaboration with organisations across the globe. Born and raised in Paddington, Madonna now lives in Ashgrove with her husband John and twin boys.

Although she was one of eight siblings living in a small workers’ cottage in Paddington, her childhood house also provided a home for a number of foster kids who had nowhere to go. She now sees young people like her sons facing the very real issues of cost of living and affordable housing. Madonna also volunteers for an organisation who works to support those who are at risk of experiencing homelessness. She sees firsthand the importance of addressing these issues and providing a safe and secure home.

Madonna cares about the future of her children and theirs, and believes that climate change is something we will only get one chance to fix; that we need an approach that is considered, ambitious, realistic and effective. That’s why she’s proud to be part of Anthony Albanese’s team that made a record investment in housing and renewable energy.

As her community’s representative in Parliament, Madonna has the skills and experience to deliver real progressive change to help the people of Brisbane. Congratulations on your successful campaign for the seat of Brisbane, Madonna, and a warm welcome to the Labor team!
