Backing Voices That Share Victoria’s Diverse Stories
Multicultural media outlets play a significant role in keeping Victoria’s culturally diverse communities informed in language – sharing news, and making sure their stories and voices are heard.
Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ingrid Stitt today announced the successful recipients of the 2024-25 Multicultural Media Grants Program, which is supporting 24 multicultural media outlets to continue their vital work.
Grants of up to $25,000 will support the outlets across print, radio, broadcasting and digital, to increase the production and publication of content, the purchase of equipment and the training or development of journalists.
The program aims to help these organisations foster a greater sense of belonging and connection throughout multicultural communities, so Victorians from all backgrounds are connected and supported, by:
This year, Wyndham Community Radio will use its grant to deliver media training programs and foster employment opportunities, while Il Globo, will create dedicated workstations for the next generation of journalists.
Since 2014, the Labor Government has invested more than $4.9 million through the Multicultural Media Grants program, supporting over 100 multicultural media outlets across Victoria.
