The State Government has joined the Commonwealth Government as a Gold Partner of the Australia Pavilion at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka.
Australia’s theme ‘Chasing the Sun’ provides an opportunity to promote Western Australia – the sunniest State in Australia – as a key investment and trade partner in an optimal business time zone.
WA’s participation will also strengthen our relationship with Japan, our second largest trading partner, and our longstanding sister-state, Hyogo Prefecture, which will be actively involved in hosting Expo 2025 in Osaka, as part of the broader Kansai Region.
The State Government will deliver a program to attract investment and highlight our world leading innovation and capability across a number of Diversify WA priority sectors, including clean energy, primary industries, space, health and medical life sciences, tourism and creative industries.

The artwork reflects a deep connection to Country and culture with vibrant motifs of iconic local flora featured, including the golden wattle, banksia and eucalyptus blossoms.
With 15,000 people expected to visit the Australia Pavilion at Expo per day, this will provide visitors insight into WA’s unique natural beauty, culture and heritage, as well as celebrating First Nations innovation on the global stage.
Local Chef Silas Masih, Owner and Head Chef of the Pepper & Salt restaurant in Denmark, has been selected as the WA guest chef.
He will be designing menus with WA produce, providing exceptional culinary experiences to VIP delegates and activating live cooking demonstrations at the Australian Pavilion.
The 2025 World Expo will see an impressive line-up of WA artists, who have been selected by the Commonwealth to participate in the Australian Pavilion’s Cultural Program, to showcase their work on the main stage to major international audiences.
First Nations artists Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse will launch the WA Cultural Program with their distinct music and performances in Noongar language.
Disability in the Arts, Disadvantage in the Arts Australia will follow in May with a screen work specifically created for the Expo to highlight the work of WA First Nations artists and cultural leaders with disabilities.
Further WA First Nations artists and creatives are scheduled to travel to Osaka later in the year to bring vibrant unique performance to the global Expo stage.
