Beyond Beats Resounding Success

Murrindindi Shire Council congratulates the young organisers and performers who brought the Beyond the Beats event to life in Eildon on Sunday 13 April. The afternoon featured five local artists and drew a crowd of 55 attendees from across the Shire and surrounding areas.

The event was planned and delivered by the youth Planning Crew – Issy, Tarni and Liv – who coordinated decorations, snacks, hosting and photography. Their dedication and hard work ensured a seamless and enjoyable experience for all. The venue was full of colours, disco balls and fun with the Planning Crew creating an event and space that will not be forgotten.

Council also thanks Pixie, Janine and the team at Pixies @ the Billabong for generously hosting the event. Their support made the gathering possible and contributed to its warm and inclusive vibe.

The performers – Lilah Galbraith, Alexis Farley, Samuel Harris, Tayla Anne Music and James Whybrow – showcased a wide range of styles and talents. Events like Beyond the Beats offer local musicians the chance to gain experience performing live, while also helping build confidence and community connections.

Council is committed to supporting opportunities where young people can take the lead in shaping and delivering events, building skills in planning, communication and leadership along the way.

Mayor Damien Gallagher and Deputy Mayor Anita Carr attended the event to show their support for local music and youth-led initiatives. Mayor Gallagher said, “It was fantastic to see our young people come together to create such a vibrant and engaging event. Their passion and creativity are truly inspiring.

Deputy Mayor Carr added, “I was in awe of the young, local artists and the energy and talent they all displayed on the big stage Events like these are vital for fostering community spirit in Eildon and across Murrindindi Shire and supporting our local young artists. Music has the power to bring people together, and our artists showed the musical talent on offer across Murrindindi Shire. Everyone involved should be proud of the event’s success.”

Tayla Anne, one of the local performers at the event said, “It was a wonderful afternoon event for the community, especially for the young ones who enjoyed a fun day out — a fantastic way to support local artists. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it.”

Beyond the Beats was supported by funding from The Push All-Ages Grants Program, part of the Victorian Government’s 10,000 Gigs initiative.

Young people interested in performing or being involved in future events can follow the Murrindindi Shire Youth Facebook and Instagram pages for updates and opportunities.
