General Practice in rural and remote Australia is moving backward...

Bob Katter

General Practice in rural and remote Australia is moving backwards.

We thank the Federal Assistant Minister for Rural and Regional Health for visiting the Far North and speaking with Dr Lisa Fraser, Dr Rod Catton, Dr Grant Manypenny and myself on this critical issue.

We appreciate the HELP debt reduction for rural service solution the government has implemented, although we’re yet to reap the benefits of this in our region.

But we MUST go further.

These passionate doctors pictured have already done a wonderful job advocating for rural general practice, and I support them in their calls for increased Medicare rebates, increased salaries to provide parity with the hospital system, increased training allowances and basic employment rights which they’re missing out on.
