Yesterday I introduced my Reducing Supermarket Dominance Bill.
A bill which would have created greater competition in the grocery sector, lowering prices for consumers, while providing fairer returns for farmers.
Every week we hear politicians in Canberra banging on about “affordability” and “cost of living”. We hear them talk about the problems, but what do they do about it?
I gave them an opportunity to vote for supermarket reform. While I thank 12 of my crossbench colleagues for voting for – the major parties opted against debating a bill for affordable groceries.
