Boost For Mental Health Care And Support In Esperance

The Cook Government will provide a $200,000 grant to Esperance Care Services to build its workforce, allowing greater community connection and support.

Esperance Care Services provides a range of services including counselling, carer support advocacy, crisis accommodation and support for people experiencing family and domestic violence, to people living in Esperance and the surrounding community.

It currently relies heavily on volunteers to offer these services to vulnerable individuals and their families.

The funding will assist Esperance Care Services to employ extra staff, who can help provide this vital support in the Goldfields-Esperance region.

As stated by Mental Health and Health Minister Meredith Hammat:

“It is a priority for our government to boost services that provide connection to others, particularly in regional areas where it can be harder to locate specialist supports.

“By supporting organisations like Esperance Care Services, we are helping people access the care they need, closer to home.

“The staff and volunteers at Esperance Care Services do a phenomenal job, and I’m extremely grateful to them for taking the time to meet with me and show me what they do.

“The Cook Labor Government is committed to strengthening mental health systems that support people to be well, stay out of hospital and connected to friends, family and community.”
