Boyce Backs Central Highlands Communities
Federal Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce, was recently in the Central Highlands to announce a series of election commitments totalling more than $850,000 spanning five different communities.
An elected Liberal National Government will:
• Upgrade the Emerald Horse and Pony Club by building day yards, stables, refurbish the arena and replace water infrastructure with an LNP commitment of $667,100.
• Help the Springsure Men’s Shed fit-out and establish their premises with an LNP commitment of $100,000.
• Provide new shade structures at the Bauhinia Hall Playground and for the Beazley Park Playground in Rolleston with an LNP commitment of $62,500.
• Help the Gemfields Clay Target Club purchase a new Canterbury Trap with an LNP commitment of $21,295.
“I am proud to commit the LNP’s support to these important community projects across the Central Highlands,” Mr Boyce said.
“The Emerald Horse and Pony Club offers an inclusive horse-riding experience that covers all ages, all abilities and all equestrian disciplines.
“Throughout the year, the club hosts a variety of event programs. However, the biggest challenge it faces in terms of being able to continue to deliver these events is its ageing and outdated infrastructure.
“The Men’s Shed movement is one of the most powerful tools in helping men address health and wellbeing issues. The Springsure Men’s Shed will offer a safe, happy, caring community.
“Both playgrounds at Bauhinia and Rolleston are well used by children and families, attracting many tourists who stop enroute to the nearby Carnarvon National Park. However, both are in need of shade covers to increase safety and enjoyment.
“Having attractive, safe and suitable playground facilities helps reduce fatigue for drivers travelling long distances in these areas, boosting road safety across the community.
“The Gemfields Clay Target Club hosts monthly shoots as well as State and Zone Competitions, with some competitions attracting over 300 competitors along with several hundred spectators and families. The club also offers Firearms Safety Training on a regular basis.
“Adding an eighth trap would remove the need to borrow traps from neighbouring clubs during larger competitions, while also ensuring they adhere to their infrastructure replacement plan for their facilities as they age.
“It’s projects like these that make our regional communities a great place to live and raise a family.”
