Brush Of Creativity To Support Survivors Of Stroke
Artists from across Australia have put paintbrush to canvas as part of a creative fundraising campaign to support survivors of stoke.
From paintings and sketches to photography and felt work, hundreds of unique pieces are up for grabs as part of Stroke Foundation’s Strokes4Stroke online auction.
Among the participating artists is survivor of stroke, multi-award-winning photographer and Stroke Foundation Government Relations Advisor, Heidi Victoria, whose images of Hummingbirds will go under the hammer.
Heidi says this is a cause close to her heart.
“It’s a great feeling to be able to donate some of my artwork to Stroke Foundation. They do such amazing work and truly made a difference in my recovery after stroke. I hope everyone bids generously, knowing that every cent is helping change lives.”
In Australia, one stroke occurs every 11 minutes and stroke is one of Australia’s biggest killers, claiming more lives than breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men.
Money raised from the Strokes4Stroke auction will help sustain vital programs and resources that Stroke Foundation provides, including: awareness campaigns, educational talks, resources and support services.
Stroke Foundation, Chief Executive Officer, Dr Lisa Murphy, says it’s heartwarming to see so many talented and creative people donating their work.
“We know how much love and effort goes into every brush stroke, every frame and every line drawn on these wonderful pieces and are so grateful that the artists have chosen to support Stroke Foundation and survivors of stroke.”
” These artists are truly making their art matter by helping Stroke Foundation prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery,” Dr Murphy said.
