CA Govs Hodgson Meets Indias Chemicals Minister
Today, Canada's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Tim Hodgson, met with India's Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Jagat Prakash Nadda, to advance cooperation and strengthen the growing economic partnership between the two countries. The meeting reflected renewed momentum in bilateral engagement, with both ministers underscoring the importance of stable, long-term access to critical minerals essential for food security.
Minister Nadda emphasized the vital role Canada plays in supplying muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer, noting that nearly 25 percent of India's potash requirement is sourced from Canadian producers. He indicated India's interest in expanding long-term supply agreements and highlighted existing strategic investments in Canadian resources. Minister Hodgson reaffirmed Canada's commitment to supporting India's agricultural productivity and outlined the Government of Canada's support to increase the competitiveness of Canada's investment environment.
Both ministers reiterated their interest in deepening collaboration in mining, exploration and potash-related technologies, including as part of India's long-term nutrient management and soil fertility strategy. They looked forward to further cooperation and mutually beneficial investments to help advance agricultural and food security.
