6 Initiatives to Improve Language Education in ACT Schools
Shadow Education Minister Elizabeth Lee has announced the Canberra Liberals initiatives to improving language education in ACT schools:
1. We will undertake a comprehensive audit of languages available, demand and expertise of our language teachers
2. We will take a strategic approach to priority languages to be taught in our schools.
3. We will ensure a consistent pathway for language education so our students can have the option of learning a language from Kindergarten to Year 12 and beyond
4. We will value and invest in language teacher education through scholarships, travel bursaries and exchange programs
5. We will form strategic partnerships with embassies, language academies and community language schools to harness the resources and expertise we have in our very own city
6. We will benchmark against the best language education systems in the world
We will ensure that the future generation of Canberrans will be best equipped to achieve their fullest potential in a competitive global world.
