Capricorn Coast Netball Scores With Games On! Upgrades

  • The 2025-26 Budget delivers major upgrade for grassroots netball in Central Queensland.
  • The Crisafulli Government delivers on key election commitment by funding $4.5 million for Capricorn Coast Netball Association through the Games On! Program.
  • Doubling hardcourt capacity and full lighting upgrade to host state-level competitions.

Capricorn Coast netballers are big winners with the Crisafulli Government delivering $4.5 million in the 2025-26 Budget for a major upgrade of the Barmaryee Sports Complex at Yeppoon.

The upgrade to the Capricorn Coast Netball Association facilities will deliver eight additional outdoor hardcourts and full lighting to enable the association to run state-level competitions and expand weekly fixtures.

The commitment fulfills on a key election commitment and is one of 117 clubs to be funded under the first round of the Games On! program, delivering new and upgraded fields and courts, clubhouses, changerooms and lighting for community sporting clubs across Queensland.

Games On! ensures all of Queensland benefits from the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and follows the announcement of the new $200 Play On! Sports Vouchers, which will also deliver cost of living relief for families and allow more Queensland kids to be involved in junior sport.

Premier David Crisafulli said Games On! was delivering more accessible sport for Queenslanders of all ages.

“We are delivering a major boost to grassroots sports across Queensland supporting our next generation of athletes to hone their skills,” Premier Crisafulli said.

“Games On! is a generational investment in our grassroots sports, making it more accessible for all Queenslanders.”

Member for Keppel Nigel Hutton said the upgrade doubled the Capricorn Coast Netball Association’s hard-court capacity and would help take it to the next level.

“The works to replace eight grass courts with hardcourts and install superior lighting, will hugely benefit junior and senior players right across the region,” Mr Hutton said.

“This association has grown from 400 participants in 2016, when they first moved to Barmaryee, to more than 1200 now, and this upgrade will ensure it goes from strength to strength.”
