Cast Your Vote For Name Of New School In Wallan East

The Victorian Government is seeking input from the community to help choose a name for the new primary school in Wallan East.

The school will be delivered by the Victorian School Building Authority and is set to open in January 2026.

The new school will sit alongside a new Community Centre being delivered by Mitchell Shire Council – now known as the Wallan East Family and Children’s Community Centre. This is an interim name only.

Once the school name is confirmed, the Community Centre will also adopt that name to reflect the shared location and integrated service model between the two facilities.

The options under consideration for the new school are:

The Community Centre, which will be integrated with the kindergarten on the school site, will offer sessional kindergarten programs, maternal and child health services, allied health support, and a multi-purpose community space for gatherings, adult learning and community programs.

Located in the growing Wallara Waters estate, it is designed to serve as a long-term community hub supporting the needs of local families.

The $20.15 million project is being funded through $18.15 million from the Victorian Government and $2 million from Council.

Construction of the Community Centre is scheduled to begin in 2025, with the Centre expected to open in January 2027.

Submissions are open until 5pm on Thursday 19 June. Visit the Victorian Government’s website to cast your vote.
