The Crisafulli Government has secured one of the world’s biggest and most spectacular military and cultural events for Queensland, with the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo coming to Brisbane next year in a major coup for the State.

The tour will feature performances from over 1,000 artists at Suncorp Stadium on 12-15 February 2026.

The world-famous event is held annually at Edinburgh Castle and is rooted in centuries-old Scottish tradition, featuring massed pipes and drums, Highland dance, and stunning displays blending military precision with performance.

The Brisbane edition is the exclusive Australian leg of the Tattoo’s 75th anniversary show, The Heroes Who Made Us, celebrating the event’s rich history and spotlighting local heroes.

Since its inception in 1950, the Tattoo has visited Australia on only four occasions via Sydney and Melbourne but has never ventured into Queensland until now.

The 2026 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Brisbane will deliver a major boost to Queensland’s economy, and is expected to generate up to $39 million.

For a decade the former Labor Government shunned Queensland’s tourism sector and refused to develop a long-term strategy to grow the industry.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering a visionary 20-year plan for Queensland’s tourism industry and developing new experiences to attract visitors to the Sunshine State.

Premier David Crisafulli said hosting the event was a major coup for Queensland.

“The Tattoo is one of the world’s most spectacular outdoor events, so attracting it to Queensland for the first time is no small feat,” Premier Crisafulli said.

“From bagpipes to bugles, Queenslanders will be able to experience the best military performances from across the globe.

“Hosting the Tattoo means the eyes of the world will be fixated on our incredible State, and Queensland is looking forward to putting on a show like no other.”

Minister for the Environment and Tourism and Minister for Science and Innovation Andrew Powell said the event would be one of the most popular ever staged in the State.

“The Tattoo will be a huge drawcard for Queenslanders and interstate guests alike, all of whom want to see a piece of history and have a world-class experience,” Minister Powell said.

“Bringing an event of this magnitude to Queensland provides amazing economic opportunities, which flow across the hospitality industry, small businesses, and retailers.

“Hosting the Tattoo reinforces Brisbane’s reputation as one of the world’s leading tourism destinations.”
