Childcare Centre to Boost Broome North Community

Childcare Centre to Boost Broome North Community

Families in Broome North will soon benefit from a new 103-place childcare centre set to open at the corner of Yako Mall and Shingoro Street in Waranyjarri Estate in August 2025.

Delivered by TysonJoe Pty Ltd, Broome North Childcare will include 27 car bays, five classrooms catering for children aged 0 to 6 years old. It will also include two playground areas, including a seasonal growing garden, which will encourage outdoor learning and play.

This development is also creating new local jobs, with several qualified educators relocating to Broome to take up roles at the centre.

Families can register for enrolments at: www.smartcentral.net/service_profile/show/961 .

Located two kilometres from Cable Beach and five kilometres north of Broome’s town centre, Waranyjarri Estate is part of the 700-hectare Broome North development, which will ultimately deliver up to 4,800 homes for 13,000 residents.

By providing residential land and amenity, this development is helping to retain skilled professionals who can support local families, while enjoying Broome’s unique culture and community.

It remains Western Australia’s only EnviroDevelopment and Waterwise-accredited regional housing project, recognised for its climate-responsive design and environmental sustainability.

The expansion of Waranyjarri Estate also includes the final phase of Tanami Drive’s construction, improving access for residents to Cable Beach.

As stated by Planning and Lands Minister John Carey:

“The State Government is committed to supporting Broome’s growth by delivering more homes and creating new job opportunities, as well as supporting expanded childcare in the region.

“Through projects like Waranyjarri Estate, we’re not only providing land for housing but also helping attract and retain skilled workers to Broome, strengthening the local economy and supporting families in the region.”

As stated by Kimberley MLA Divina D’Anna:

“It is fantastic that the new centre will increase childcare options in Broome, to support parents returning to work.

“Broome North Childcare will also be a welcome inclusion in the Broome North community expansion, providing quality early childhood education for young children and creating new jobs in the community.”
