Construction Completed At New Sporting Hub In Eglinton
Northern suburbs sports clubs, community groups and residents will soon be able to enjoy new amenities at the Heath Park Pavilion in Eglinton.
Key features of the project include change rooms, first aid facilities, umpire rooms, universal access toilets and showers, activity rooms, kitchens, kiosks and storage facilities.
The new hub was supported by $710,000 in funding from the WA Labor Government, in addition to investments from the Commonwealth and local government.
A further $220,000 has been committed through the WA Labor Government’s Club Night Lights Program for the installation of enhanced floodlighting at the pavilion and surrounding ovals.
As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:
“Sporting precincts form such an important part of our communities, particularly in our suburbs.
“Not only do they support healthier lifestyles through sport and physical activity, but they also bring people together and create a sense of community.
“This new precinct will help ensure more people in Alkimos, Eglinton and Butler are able to participate and engage in community sport, as well as use the space for gatherings, workshops and celebrations.”
As stated by Butler MLA Lorna Clarke:
“This Eglinton project has been highly anticipated, with local clubs and community members eager to make the most of their new home at Heath Park.
“As a mum in Eglinton, I know that having a dedicated precinct like Heath Park Pavilion is so important for our growing local sporting teams and will no doubt support more families to participate in sport and kids to get active and be part of our community.”
