The Country Liberal Party’s Central Council has established the Party policy platform regarding a Voice to Parliament. The decisions taken by the CLP Central Council provide a further platform, to support Senator Price’s stance against a Voice. The CLP policy platform supports a ‘no Voice to Parliament’ outcome from the referendum proposed in late 2023.
CLP Delegates cited the following serious concerns:
• the division of Australians along racial lines within the constitution,
• the undermining of fundamental principles such as equality before the law in a representative democracy,
• the lack of detail about the practical functionality of the proposed body,
• doubts regarding its effectiveness in tackling problems at the community level, and
• the significant cost that will dilute resources needed on the ground in Aboriginal communities.
The CLP Central Council saw the importance of providing support to the position that Senator Price and her Nationals Party colleagues have taken at the Federal level.
