Daly River: Evacuate Now Amid Flood Alert 9 February

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:
MAJOR FLOODING LIKELY ALONG THE DALY RIVER AT DALY RIVER POLICE STATION FROM LATE MONDAY
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Daly River at the Police Station. Major flooding is likely from late Monday, with further rises expected as upstream flows arrive, and a peak near 14.10 m may occur during late Tuesday. The river level is expected to remain above the moderate flood level for the rest of the week and into the weekend.
River levels remain elevated in the Daly River above Douglas River and in the Katherine Rivers but are generally easing. Further downstream, river levels are rising along the Daly River with the main flood peak now approaching Gourley.
Further showers and storms are forecast over the next few days. Widespread significant rainfall is not expected, however small additional river level rises are possible. The situation will continue to be closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
Daly River above Douglas River:
River levels are elevated along the Daly River and tributaries upstream of the Douglas River, including at Dorisvale Crossing.
Lower Daly River:
Moderate flooding is rising slowly along the Daly River at Daly River Police Station, with elevated river levels upstream at Beeboom Crossing, Gourley and Mount Nancar.
The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is currently at 13.93 m and rising, with moderate flooding. The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is likely to reach the major flood level (14.00 m) from late Monday. A major flood peak near 14.10 m is possible during late Tuesday.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
