Devonport Sports Precinct Reaches Major Milestone

Parts of the $60 million Devonport Sports Precinct have been completed, with other major works about to kick off.

The upgrades include a three-court indoor community hall, a three-court show court hall, multi-club social and administration facilities and cricket and high-performance training facilities

Premier, Jeremy Rockliff, said the Tasmanian Government was delivering a sporting precinct that will support the health of locals for generations to come.

"We're proud to be supporting the Devonport City Council on this major project with funding of $30.8 million," the Premier said.

"The sports complex will bring significant benefits to the North West, providing a boost for the local economy and creating more than 360 jobs during construction."

Minister for Sport, Nick Duigan, said the works were progressing well and had already started providing benefits for the community.

"Last month, the outdoor synthetic cricket area was completed, with outdoor synthetic lanes in the training area now being used by the Devonport Cricket Club," Minster Duigan said.

"The bike track around the Devonport Oval has also been resurfaced and will soon be finished, and major works are set to commence on the three-court, indoor community hall.

"These upgrades will transform community access to sport and active recreation in the region, and I look forward to seeing the precinct reach completion."

Federal Member for Braddon Anne Urquhart said: "I'm excited that this project is progressing, proud that the Albanese Government has contributed $25 million to deliver these projects."

"Each of the new facilities at the Devonport Sports precinct will mean more sport, and more access to community spaces for Devonport locals and anyone across the coast, whilst also providing opportunities for broader competitions to be held in the region," she said.

This significant project is supported by a $25 million investment by the Australian Government and the Devonport City Council has allocated $4.5 million for the project.

The Devonport Sports Precinct is set for completion in mid-2027.
