Donnelly Park Foreshore Project Hits Major Milestone

Georges River Council has officially marked the commencement of construction of the Donnelly Park Foreshore Protection and Environmental Enhancement with a sod-turning ceremony.

The ceremony signals an exciting step forward in the delivery of a Georges River Foreshore Access and Improvement Plan priority project. This project focuses on improving the environmental resilience and accessibility to the foreshore.

A total of $2.4 million has been allocated to the project, which has been made possible with the support of the NSW Government’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, “The funding from DCCEEW has been instrumental in driving our shared commitment to protecting and enhancing our natural environment for future generations.

“We are not only protecting the environment but also creating a more accessible and enjoyable space for the community to connect with nature.

“This is a fantastic win for both residents and visitors, especially for those who love water activities including sailing—it’s a game-changer for enjoying our beautiful waterways,” added the Mayor.

With a preliminary design created in 2024, work is now set to begin.
