Election Material Complaint
Kiama Municipal Council has been made aware that the Labor candidate for the Federal seat of Gilmore Fiona Phillips has used a photographic image of Kiama Mayor Cameron McDonald performing mayoral duties, in her own campaign related material.
Neither Kiama Municipal Council nor the Mayor authorised the use of this image, and permission was not sought.
The Mayor ran in the 2024 local government elections as an independent.
Despite assurances provided to Council, the election material continues to be circulated.
A formal complaint has been lodged with the Australian Electoral Commission and the candidate informed to cease using or circulating this material.
