Equality Australia: Love Is Love Myth

The consequences of redefining marriage in 2017 are now brutally clear, says Family First National Director Lyle Shelton, following Equality Australia’s intervention in the court case against Sall Grover, founder of the women-only Giggle app.

“When Australians were told same-sex marriage would have ‘no consequences’, they were lied to,” Mr Shelton said.

“Equality Australia, formerly Australian Marriage Equality, campaigned for gay marriage under the slogan ‘love is love’.”

Now the re-badged same-sex marriage movement is targeting women like Sall Grover who simply want to protect female-only spaces from biological males.

“Equality Australia’s court intervention is even gunning for the lesbian groups supporting Grover. If a lesbian can be a man, the same-sex marriage movement has ended in a weird place,” Shelton said.

“Their legal attack, aided by their transgender consultant Teddy Cook, who has publicly affirmed bestiality, shows how far the rainbow political movement has drifted from reality and decency.”

Grover, who was sued for excluding a man identifying as a woman from her app, lost in the Federal Court thanks to a 2013 Gillard Government amendment to the Sex Discrimination Act—one that inserted “gender identity” without debate and with Coalition support.

“We warned in 2017 that redefining marriage would trash freedoms and impose radical gender ideology on Australians. Now Christian schools are under legal threat, gender clinics are harming children, and women are being dragged through the courts for defending their spaces,” Mr Shelton said.

“Every major party MP who waved this through must now answer for the damage done. It’s not just a legal issue—it’s a moral catastrophe.”

Family First is calling for a national re-think of LGBTQ+ law reform and for political leaders to find the courage to restore biological reality to law.

“The major parties are missing in action. That’s why Family First is building a political movement for faith, family, freedom and life,” Mr Shelton said.
