Federal Liberal Commitment To Burnie Urgent Care Clinic Welcomed
The Tasmanian Liberal Government welcomes the Federal Liberal Opposition’s commitment to a new Urgent Care Clinic in Burnie.
Minister for Health, Jacquie Petrusma, said an Urgent Care Clinic in Burnie would mean more North West and West Coasters have access to General Practitioner (GP) services faster.
“We’re pleased to see the Federal Liberal Opposition taking primary healthcare seriously and making this commitment,” Minister Petrusma said.
“Every Tasmanian deserves access to affordable GP services including bulk billing, no matter where they live, and we’ve been campaigning to Federal Labor for more than a year for additional Urgent Care Clinic locations in Tasmania’s regions, including in Burnie.
“Now this clinic has bipartisan support, we are calling on Federal Labor to stop playing politics with primary health care and get on with delivering the Burnie and Sorell Urgent Care Clinics.
“Our Government stands ready to assist in operating new clinics at Burnie and Sorell by completing the tendering and contracting, like we have for existing clinics.
“We continue to call on the Federal Government for more Urgent Care Clinic locations to support Tasmania’s health needs in growing regional areas across the State.
“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, our Government is building an even better health system.”
