Federation Welcomes New TAFE Managing Director
The NSW Teachers Federation welcomes the appointment of Chloe Read as the new Managing Director of TAFE NSW.
General Secretary Maxine Sharkey said the appointment marked a significant shift after more than a decade of the failed privatisation agenda under the former Coalition Government.
“For too long, TAFE was led by managing directors with no background in education or skills training, appointed as part of a broader agenda to undermine the public vocational education system,” Sharkey said.
“Chloe Read brings deep expertise in vocational education and a demonstrated commitment to the long-term future of the TAFE system. Her appointment sends a clear message to teachers, students and the broader community that the Labor Government is serious about rebuilding TAFE.”
“The Federation looks forward to a positive and ongoing working relationship with Ms Read to grow and strengthen the TAFE system in NSW.”
