Fitzroy Crossing Renal Centre Expansion Begins

Fitzroy Crossing Renal Centre Expansion Begins

The $8.6 million expansion of the Fitzroy Crossing Renal Health Centre is underway, with footings, slab pours, retaining walls and blockwork forming the first stages of the construction schedule.

The expansion will double the facility’s capacity, making it possible for an additional 16 renal patients to receive ongoing treatment closer to home and on Country.

The revitalised centre will also feature local artworks incorporated into panelling and screens, helping to provide comfortable, culturally safe and welcoming surroundings for patients during treatment.

The program of works has been designed to minimise disruption to patients, with alternate treatment options also being prepared including portable dialysis equipment or temporary patient relocation to other renal services within the Kimberley region.

The expansion works are due for completion in late 2025.

As stated by Health Infrastructure Minister John Carey:

“The $9 million expansion of Fitzroy Crossing’s Renal Health Centre is well underway with site works including footings and slab pours.

“The expanded facility will double the capacity for renal dialysis care in Fitzroy Crossing and provide the very latest in health care to the surrounding Fitzroy Valley communities.”

As stated by Health Minister Meredith Hammat:

“Improving access to our world-class health system is a key focus for our government, and that’s exactly what we’re delivering with this expansion.

“The Fitzroy Crossing Renal Health Centre will provide a significant increase in services for residents in the West Kimberley.

“Patients will receive quality care, in a welcoming and culturally safe space that honours the Traditional Owners, the Bunuba people.

As stated by Kimberley MLA Divina D’Anna:

“The expansion of the Fitzroy Crossing Renal Health Centre will deliver essential increased access to high-quality health care services for people in Fitzroy Valley communities, ensuring more people can remain on Country for their health care needs.

“Our government has prioritised the progression of this project as it understands the importance of increasing health outcomes for regional and remote Kimberley residents.”
