Funds Pledged for Muddy’s Playground Revamp

Cairns Regional Council welcomes today’s announcement from LNP candidate for Leichhardt, Jeremy Neal, committing $1 million towards the revitalisation of Muddy’s Playground.

“This funding commitment—matched by Council—will enable us to upgrade and enhance one of our city’s most beloved community spaces, ensuring it remains a premier destination for families for generations to come,” Mayor Amy Eden said.

“For more than 20 years, Muddy’s Playground has been a cornerstone of the Cairns Esplanade, offering a safe, inclusive, and imaginative play space for children of all ages. This long-awaited upgrade will deliver improved interactive water play, increase sustainability, and reduce long-term maintenance costs.”

Mayor Eden said federal support for local infrastructure projects such as Muddy’s Playground was vital.

“At a time when families are feeling the pressure of rising living costs, access to free, high-quality recreational spaces is more important than ever,” she said.

“Federal investment in community infrastructure helps Council continue to deliver great outcomes while keeping costs manageable for ratepayers. We look forward to seeing this project come to life and to working closely with all levels of government to ensure Cairns families have the spaces and services they deserve.”
