Gabba Entertainment Precinct Market Launches
Gabba entertainment precinct market engagement kicks off
- Formal market engagement process commences today for city-shaping Gabba entertainment and housing precinct.
- Private sector invited to register interest in the development process to transform the nine-hectare precinct in inner-city Woolloongabba.
- A re-imagined precinct will leave a generational legacy well beyond the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Crisafulli Government is progressing the 2032 Delivery Plan, kickstarting formal market engagement to transform Woolloongabba into a world-class entertainment and housing precinct.
With a formal market engagement process opening today, the private sector is invited to register interest in the city-shaping proposal for the former GoPrint site and The Gabba stadium after the 2032 Games.
Spanning more than nine hectares of prime inner-city land just two kilometres from the CBD, the combined sites are connected to key public transport infrastructure including the South East Busway and future Woolloongabba Cross River Rail Station.
Following the formal market engagement, a competitive process will be developed to invite the private sector to submit proposals.
The Crisafulli Government is getting on with delivering the 2032 Games after Labor’s 1,200 days of chaos, with a credible plan to restore the pride of Queenslanders in the Games with world-class venues, infrastructure and villages.
Aligned with the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to deliver connectivity and a generational legacy from the Games, the new precinct will unlock:
- Tourism opportunities through major events, sports, and experiences
- New investment attraction in hospitality, retail, and residential development
- Increased housing and urban activation in one of Australia’s fastest growing cities
- Access and connectivity to the Cross River Rail line, minutes from the CBD.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie, said the Government would create a legacy that would endure well beyond the Games.
“We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to capitalise on the 2032 Games and transform Woolloongabba into a vibrant entertainment and housing precinct in the heart of our capital city,” Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
“The generational impact of this transformation will last well beyond the Games, creating new opportunities for investment and events, and opening the door to bigger and better sports and entertainment for all Queenslanders.
“We are inviting industry experts to help shape this project, while ensuring we deliver the transport and community infrastructure that benefits Queenslanders around the State.
“The site is surrounded by key transport infrastructure that is ideal for an urban renewal precinct of this size and scale.
“This is another way we are delivering for Queensland, creating more homes, and ensuring the 2032 Games leave a legacy that lasts for generations.”
