In two years, the NACC has held 24 private hearings - but not a single public one.
Public scrutiny, which is essential to transparency, has been effectively blocked by an unnecessary hurdle.
At the last minute in 2022, the Government - with Coalition support - raised the bar so hearings must be not only in the public interest but also meet the vague test of "exceptional circumstances."
I opposed this, and integrity experts warned it would stymie transparency.
