I was honoured to officially open Plasticwise Yackandandah’s Recycle Station on the weekend at the Yack Station Precinct.
This is a one-stop shop to deposit plastic items that can’t be collected curbside, but can be recycled once sorted. This includes toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, makeup packaging, dish and air-care products, and plastic bread tags.
Simply drop off your plastics into the nifty repurposed filing cabinets, which are open 24/7. The Station was made possible by support from Halve Waste.
Plastic waste is a huge environmental issue. Of the seven billion tonnes of plastic waste generated globally so far, less than 10% has been recycled. But we can each make a difference, starting at home.
The brains behind Plasticwise Yackandandah are mainly working mums who want to leave a better planet for their children. Congratulations to Francesca, Mim, Sarah, Torre and all the members of Plasticwise Yackandandah for this fantastic initiative.
